Maya Pistola Agavepura, better known as Pistola, has clinched two more international honours at the prestigious Asian Spirits Masters 2025, winning Gold for its Extra Añejo and Silver for its Añejo in the newly introduced ‘Speciality Spirits’ category. These accolades mark a significant milestone for Asia’s first premium aged 100% agave spirit, as it continues to redefine global perceptions of Indian craft spirits.
Crafted from Wild Agave Americana grown in Andhra Pradesh’s arid Chittoor region and aged in Virgin American Oak and ex-Bourbon casks in Goa, Pistola’s Extra Añejo and Añejo variants are celebrated for their depth, complexity, and indulgent character. With these latest wins, Pistola’s cumulative tally now exceeds 40 international and national awards, underscoring the brand’s commitment to innovation, authenticity, and artisanal quality since its inception in 2022.
More About The Awards
Organised by The Spirits Business, the Asian Spirits Masters is a blind-tasting competition judged by an international panel of experts and has been a benchmark of excellence for over eight years. The 2025 edition marked a notable expansion with the launch of the ‘Speciality Spirits’ category, where Pistola’s entries stood out among a competitive field, reflecting the growing global appetite for nuanced, premium craft spirits from non-traditional regions.
“From day one, our focus has been on building not just a product, but a category — one that challenges conventional geographies of agave and expands what craft spirits from India can represent,” said Rakshay Dhariwal, Founder and Director of Maya Pistola Agavepura. “As Pistola continues to earn global recognition, we see a growing opportunity to take Indian craft to places it’s never been before.”
Pistola’s portfolio now spans five expressions—Joven, Reposado, Rosa, Añejo, and Extra Añejo—each crafted without artificial additives and designed to appeal to evolving global palates.
“Awards like these validate the quality of what we’re creating,” added Kimberly Pereira, Chief Operating Officer. “More importantly, they highlight a growing curiosity and acceptance of Indian spirits on the world stage. We’re proud to be leading that charge.”
