Get In The Mood For A Fun Weekend With These 4 Simple Cocktail Recipes


We would all agree that we need a cocktail fix once in a while. And the weekend calls for it, either to end the past week or to prepare for the upcoming one. And if you are bored with your regular mixes and intend to go for a spin, we might have something in store for you. Outlook Eats got in touch with  Liquid Chef and Mixologist at The Taj Palace, New Delhi, Joel Scholtens Lindsay, to share a few cocktail recipes with us. Having widely travelled and heavily influenced by diverse cultures, Joel has been practicing his craft for 24 years now. Here is a list of cocktails that you can try out based on your zodiac sign this weekend

Queen Letizia

Water signs are generally intuitive, emotional and sensual. Queen Letizia, a refreshing, fruity cocktail is a perfect cocktail for them.

Ingredients:

  • 90 ml red wine
  • 10 ml homemade aloe vera syrup
  • 20 ml blackberry puree
  • Orange Twist
  • A dash of angostura bitters
  • Sea salt to taste

Method: 

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add the red wine, aloe vera syrup, blackberry puree and angostura bitters and shake well.
  2. Rim a crystal goblet with sea salt and an orange twist.
  3. Strain and pour over the cocktail.
  4. Garnish with blackberries and serve.

Milk Of The Poppy

Milk of the Poppy is a simple yet indulgent and calming cocktail that exemplifies the practical, cautious, and humble Earth signs.

Ingredients: 

  • 50 ml whiskey
  • 20 ml homemade artisanal five-spice liqueur
  • 45 ml milk
  • 2 bar spoons poppy seeds

Method: 

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add ice and all the ingredients, and shake well.
  2. Serve chilled in an old-fashioned glass, garnished with a cinnamon stick and star anise coated in poppy seeds

Lawrence Of Arabia

Lawrence of Arabia is an aromatic cocktail to complement the passionate, courageous and ambitious fire signs.

Ingredients: 

  • 60 ml roasted almond and date-infused rum
  • 15 ml homemade sumac syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • A dash of spice bitters, and juice of half a lemon

Method:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add ice and all the ingredients, and shake well.
  2. Strain and serve chilled in a goblet garnished with a dehydrated orange slice and a date on the side.

Princess Mary

A floral, aromatic cocktail, Princess Mary, comes with a unique flavour profile and will pique the intellect of the air signs.

Ingredients: 

  • 60 ml dry gin
  • 3 no’s fresh basil
  • 5 ml sugar syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • A pinch of matcha powder, a few drops of lavender extract and juice of a quarter lemon

Method: 

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add ice and all the ingredients, and shake well.
  2. Strain and serve chilled in a goblet garnished with a sprinkle of matcha powder and a basil leaf.
